Sculptures

A visual metaphor for couple’s relationships: a strained balance. Inflexibility becomes the barrier, distancing those who seek closeness. Where love and support should be, we find distance and clash – a daily headline. This piece questions this precarious teeter-totter.

“Hold on a bit longer” – a whispered plea etched in steel. Slender lines curve and intersect, embodying the tension of modern love: fragile yet resilient, bending under societal pressures but refusing to break, a raw testament to relationships struggling to maintain their delicate balance.

“Fly Dance”: Breaking earthly bonds. This figure dances free from gravity, and the limitations of earthly life: economic constraints, social obligations. A weightless form embodying escape from physical and societal pull.

“Can you see?” portrays a solitary steel figure, elongated and slender, perched atop a rectangular base. Gazing intently upwards, the figure embodies a sense of seeking and striving for clarity in the face of an uncertain future. The sculpture, part of a series exploring our relationship with time.

“Is this what we wanted for us?” This sculpture, “My Pet to Save My Life,” questions our growing distance. As human warmth fades, we seek connection in pets. With depression rising, pets are prescribed as solace. A poignant reflection on our modern condition, and the nature of connection itself.

What Holds Us Up? “The Delicate Balance”
An Inquiry into Foundations, Equilibrium, and the Structures of Human Connection
The “Delicate Balance” series emerges from a fundamental philosophical investigation: What are the underlying structures that sustain human experience? Utilizing stainless steel as both medium and metaphor, these sculptures probe the invisible frameworks that support our individual and collective existence.
At the core of this work lies an exploration of armature—the essential, often unseen skeleton that provides form and stability. Just as an architectural framework remains hidden yet critical, these sculptures reveal the complex support systems that define human resilience: social norms, psychological mechanisms, and the intricate negotiations between individual agency and collective harmony.
Stainless steel becomes more than a material; it is a conceptual language. Its inherent properties—strength, reflectivity, structural integrity—serve as a metaphorical lens through which to examine the subtle dynamics of balance and support. The reflective surfaces invite viewers to see themselves within these structural metaphors, challenging them to recognize the delicate equilibriums that define human connection.
Each sculpture captures a moment of potential—a suspended tension that speaks to the constant adjustments we make in maintaining our personal and societal balance. They ask us to consider the invisible threads that hold us together, the unseen supports that prevent individual and collective collapse.
“The Delicate Balance” is not merely an artistic series, but a philosophical inquiry. It transforms steel into a medium of contemplation, inviting viewers to reflect on the complex, often unacknowledged structures that define our existence.
