The banker in his coat and hat opens his arms like a politician: honest, welcoming. The rod is his Pinocchio nose, his lie, and he hangs people by their ears from it, like in a medieval film. Governments and financial institutions created a false reality of inflation and presented it as natural, and financial engineering turns one dollar into twenty. In Lebanon, the banks told people their money was gone. It happened to me too.
